Paul L. Jansen & Son is the premier builder of high
quality musicians' benches in the United States. For over 50 years Jansen has
provided benches for top leading piano builders such as Steinway, Yamaha and
Baldwin, as well as many of the world’s top concert pianists, harpists and performers.
Jansen benches are solid and strong, made from the highest quality
hardwood maple grown in the US. Their support and adjusting mechanism hardware works
smoothly and makes absolutely no noise.
The padding is made with extra-dense
firm polyester foam which lasts over time and the vinyl is furniture grade
giving the bench a beautiful appearance on or off stage.
Jansen benches are
fully constructed in Oshkosh, Wisconsin with all parts made in the
US. Compared to other benches Jansen Benches seem expensive, but they last for many, many years.

THE JANSEN PETITE ARTIST BENCH
The Jansen Petite Artist Bench is the highest quality made
bench on the market today. This particular model is perfect for harpists; It
features a shorter seat measurement than a standard piano bench and its compact
tufted seat is extremely comfortable.
These benches use Jansen's silent solid
steel "Micro-A-Just" mechanism which provides precision durability
and convenient height adjustment.
The
body and legs are made from solid hardwood maple. All Jansen benches are sturdy and strong
with absolutely no bench wobble or mechanism squeak.

STAINS, FINISHES AND VINYL COLORS
Below we have a sample of the satin finishes from left to right in Walnut, Mahogany, Red Mahogany and Ebony. There is also Natural (see image of bench above), which is a clear satin finish of the natural maple wood the bench is made from. There is also Ivory and White satin finish for an additional fee. The Natural and Walnut are the most popular finishes. All these finishes are also available in a high-gloss for an additional cost.
The vinyl colors available for the bench seat are left to right Brown, Burgundy, Aged Natural and Ebony. The Aged Natural vinyl is a special vinyl color designed to mimic the color pedal harps in a natural finish will become with age. There is also the option of Ivory or White vinyl for an additional fee. These two colors do wear and show dirt quickly however.

The Petite Artist Bench can be made with a variety of leg styles depending on how low (or high) you would like your bench to go. The J-4 leg shown below is the standard leg normally offered for our Petite Artist bench. It is commonly used for orchestras and schools, however, you can order any of the legs shown below. The same bench only the seat is hinged to allow a place for music, etc. We don't really recommend this option if you wish to take this bench on gigs, for example. But it is a nice option if the bench will remain in one place in your studio or home.
