Built in 1967, this classical Lyon & Healy Style 23 Gold harp is a wonderful sounding instrument. The harp has been well maintained, rarely moved over the past 30 years and barely played in the last 10 years.
The sound is big, rich and warm, very even from top to bottom.. All octaves sound great, including a very nice, resonant high register. There’s also nice spacing for the right hand in the upper octaves making it easy to play.
The harp has recently received a thorough inspection, restringing and regulation which finds the body, sounding board and base frame all considered in good condition.
The base frame is in excellent condition. There is roughly a 1/2" of movement in the sounding board on the left side. The neck shows some twist and movement but not a problem (see images below). The action has some slight clicking in the rivets but not in need of a re-rivet anytime soon.
The column is considered in very good condition, the carving and gold show well. Overall the gold is considered in very good to excellent condition for an instrument of its age, with only a few scratches and marks. There is some wear of the gold on the top of the base as well as a few marks on the sounding board, one with about a 1”x 1/2” area of missing decal (see images below).
The harp includes a brand new L&H black dust cover, a very sturdy harp dolly that can handle stairs, a L&H carved music stand, bench and wooden tuning key. Misc. music and strings are also included. All items to be valued at approximately $2,000.00.
